Tour Details

Your Jewish Moscow tour begins in an Old Choral Synagogue. It was open for prayers in 1906, when Tsar’s manifesto on the freedom of conscience was issued. At present it is recreated in the way it was planned to be in the first place and, moreover, the General Rabbinate of Moscow is located there. Don’t hesitate to take a glance at a symbolic Wailing Wall in the garden beside it.

The history would mean nothing without its key personalities. Therefore the next stop will take place at Novodevichiy Convent and Cemetery. Here lie a famous artist I.I. Levitan, a Nobel laureate L.D. Landau, a writer, journalist and historian Ilya Ehrenburg and a Soviet stand-up comedian and actor Arkady Raikin. Our private guide will be honoured to depict their destiny.

Afterwards you will be welcomed to visit the Jewish Museum and Tolerance center. It is one of the best Jewish centers in the world and the top tourist attraction for a genuine Jewish history experience in Moscow. Our private guide in Moscow can join you, but this center is fully adjusted for solo exploration.

The story begins at a 5D cinema, then you will enter the hall filled with interactive showpieces, which make the process of perception more exciting and engaging. Surprising, how the full story of Jewish nation can be concentrated in one place and delivered in such an entertaining way. Lots of stories will be heard from many Jewish people talking from numerous screens. You will be able to fill somebody’s shoes with the help of interactive equipment for the purpose of being wrapped up in the history to the full extent. Parts of exhibition are placed according to historical course of events. It takes time to process the information given and we will not be surprised if you feel like coming back here.

If you work up an appetite, visit a Kosher restaurant beside the museum. Uber or Yandex.Taxi applications will help you to find a cab to drive you back to the hotel after such a busy day. An average cost per trip is $8-$12.

If you prefer, we can offer you additional Jewish places in Moscow to visit:

  • Holocaust Memorial Synagogue was the first built Jewish historical museum in Moscow. The biggest part of the exhibition is dedicated to the Jewish Pale and Holocaust.
  • Museum of Jewish history, which provides visitors with a comprehensive history of Jewish nation on the territory of Russia and USSR. The exhibition of the museum can be divided into two parts - the historical processes and traditional culture.
