For Nikita Khrushev, a political leader of the Soviet Union after Stalin, the Ostankino Tower project as the world’s highest construction was ambitious and considered as another advantage over capitalism.

The engineer team offered a main option to build the tower basing on concrete constructions instead of iron. It’s was a great challenge! Then, there was not any world’s analog of such a high building with using this material. The load of the tower is fantastic - more than 55 thousand tons. Also the main engineer found an another super creative idea that was used - a relatively shallow foundation, unbelievable, it had a depth of 4.6 m, less than the usual factory pipe. That’s why it’s an absolutely unique construction that being one of the largest towers has the smallest foundation in the world. Tremendous!

When Nikita Khrushev lost his power while the Ostankino tower had been erecting. He didn’t cut a red ribbon on the opening ceremony. Once he visited it as an ordinary retired man with binoculars gifted of Konrad Adenauer, a Chancellor of Germany for better viewing but making picture was not allowed that time including him. Today you are in better position then ex-soviet leader and you can make pictures so many as you want.
Our guide will tell you many stories about the Ostankino Tower's past and present, share with you the legends about people who built it despite the outstanding challenges. You will try all local attractions from the fastest elevator till jumping (even or laying down!) on its armor glass floor. Don’t be afraid to do that! The Ostankino Tower Tour is calling you!
