The palace itself is one of those tourist attractions, where you can figuratively go back in time. Artistic paintings on the ceiling, gorgeous tiles, Venetian glass chandeliers and other pieces of art were recreated with detailed authenticity to ornament the rooms. If you wonder, where is Palace of Tsar Alexei Mikhailovich situated, the answer is Kolomenskoye. This conservation park used to be one of Russian Tsar’s favorite places in Moscow.
You will walk through dining chambers, where Tsar used to host foreign guests. A multimedia part of the exhibition displays Tsar’s feast and therefore recreates the event as it was on the first day. Proceed to the Dumnaya chamber, which represents a room, where Boyarskaya Duma was gathering for essential meetings and where allowance was issued. What can you see next? The throne room - the heart of ceremonial receptions. Lavish sets and a royal throne were supposed to impress foreign ambassadors during festive events.
Alexei Mikhailovich’s room will tell you the most about Tsar. This is the place where he spent most of his time. The room was the only spot he could get privacy for managing public affairs. Walk further to bed chamber or Opochivalnya - a room for rest. You might be surprised by the size of the bed. Due to superstitious beliefs, Russian people were sleeping in a sitting position, otherwise the soul could not come back into the body.
Palace of Tsar Alexei Mikhailovich is on the top-10 places to visit in Russia for an authentic cultural and historical experience.
